On July 21st, 16 racers came out to compete on the humid, 80+ degree evening which featured a southeast wind at 12mph. Thunderstorms had been forecast and the skies were threatening but it didn't rain.

We saw a few new faces for a change. Steve Schoger (Woodland's Cycling), a 55+ Master's racer from Houston, TX came up to visit family and to take part in the first day of Ragbrai. When he found our race on the internet he came up a day earlier to do the race and won the closely contested Cat 4 contest.

First-timer Renee Kruse recorded what is likely the best Women's Open time in series history.

Clark Priebe and Bill Feiges tried something different and combined for a 2-man team.
